Destination Trail Lottery Policies & Procedures


Due to the popularity of the 200 mile events and limited entries, we have chosen to use a lottery system to give all runners an equal chance at running.

There is a two week period in which runners may register for the lottery, when registering a credit card will be required but will not be charged at this time. 

One week after the lottery registration period ends the drawing will be held. When a runner is selected from the lottery into the event their credit card is automatically charged the registration fees and any additional merchandise which was selected. By registering for the lottery you are agreeing to have your credit card charged if you are chosen.

Once all spots in the event have been filled the remaining runners will be placed on the waitlist in the order they registered for the lottery. 

As spots in the event open, runners will be invited from the waitlist into the event. The invitation will be an email issued through Ultrasignup with an option to accept or decline the invitation. If you accept the invitation your credit card will be charged the registration fees and any additional merchandise which was selected. If you decline the invitation your registration will be removed and you will not receive any charges. The waitlist typically closes a month before the event and no additional waitlisted runners will be selected.

One week after the lottery drawing runners will be able to register for the waitlist. When registering for the waitlist a credit card will be required but no charges will be made at that time. If a runner makes it off the waitlist, an invitation will be sent as described previously. You  will not be charged unless you accept the registration invitation.


Transfer/Roll Over/Credit Registrations

If you have been issued a credit, transfer or roll over to another year or event you must register for the new event during the regular registration period, this is true whether it is a standard or lottery style entry.

Standard: When registering the transfer, credit or roll over amount will be applied toward your entry on the Cart Summary page. If you do not see the credit amount applied do not register or you will be charged the full registration fees. The most common reason the credit is not applied is the runner has changed their email address from the one used when the credit was issued. All credits are attached to the email address used at the time of the original registration. Email the Race Director and they will resolve the issue.

Lottery: All runners with a transfer, credit or roll over into an event that involves a lottery will need to sign up for the lottery during the regular registration period in order to be available for lottery selection. When registering the transfer, credit or roll over amount will be applied toward your entry on the Cart Summary page. If you do not see the credit amount applied do not register or you will be charged the full registration fees. When the lottery takes place all REGISTERED runners with a transfer, credit or roll over will be automatically selected and placed into the event, the remaining spots will then be filled via the lottery. 

Once selected from the lottery into the event the runner’s credit card will be charged any remaining registration fees and any additional merchandise which was selected. By registering for the lottery you are agreeing to have your credit card charged, there will not be an invitation to accept or decline the entry.
